Black Queens qualify for Nigeria 2003

Ghana's women soccer team, the Black Queens this afternoon gain qualification for next year's CAF Women Cup of Nations as they defeated their counterparts from Senegal by three goals to one ( 3-1 ).

It was Sheila Okai who first got the respectable crowd onto their feet by converting a spot kick awarded the Queens after Skipper Mavis Djamgba had been brought down in the penalty box.

Joyce Ohenewaah ensured qualification with two spectacular goals in each half, with Senegalese Gueye Absa scoring the consolation goal for her side with eight minutes left for play from a 25yards freekick.

With this victory the Black Queens of Ghana thus qualify for the next Women African Cup of Nations to be held in Nigeria 2003, with a 6-1 goals aggregate after having won the 1st league 3-0 in far away Dakar.
