Appiah threatens to quit Coaches Association

Footy-ghana.com can exclusively reveal that Black Stars head coach Kwasi Appiah has threatened to leave the Ghana Coaches Association unless Hearts of oak head coach David Duncan apologises for recent comments.

As earlier reported on this site, Duncan complained at a club forum that coaches with past working relationships with Asante Kotoko are getting national positions, adding that there seems to be bias against players of Hearts of oak, either past or present.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Appiah, who left Japan for London to see his family, called the General Secretary of the Ghana Coaches Association, Ken Augustt to complain bitterly about Duncan’s comments.

According to our sources, Appiah told Augustt that unless Duncan, who is also a member of the Association, renders an apology for his comments; the Black Stars head coach would quit the Association.

Footy-ghana.com understands that Augustt attempted to calm him down and promised to mediate for an amicable solution.

Footy-ghana.com can confirm that Appiah will fly from London to Luxor in Egypt for Monday’s 2014 World Cup final qualifying draw for the Africa zone.
