I just cannot believe what I have just read.A chief demanding that money which belongs to the community should be used to buy a laptop for his son studying at the University of Science and Technology.In addition to that this same chief,the Ahinsanhene has been selling lands in government forest reserves.What at all is going on in Ghana with regard to the behavior of chiefs .Chieftancy must be abolished before things get out of hand.Chiefs are suddenly behaving as if we still live in the colonial era when they had their police forces and courts and dealt arbitrary with their so-called subjects-subjecting them to jungle and rough justice.Chieftancy is an anachronistic,corrupt institution which has no place in modern Ghana.It is a form of feudalism.Chieftancy should be abolished,chiefs replaced by city and town mayors and all lands vested in the state.They can then choose to exist on their own as licensed private tourist attractions to earn income and pay taxes on them.

And a whole ministry has been established to deal with chieftancy affairs in the country.A complete waste of money and other resources meant for the development of the country.And the minister is sitting down unconcerned for chiefs to illegally banish ghanaians from where they live.This is an insult to the free movement of ghanaians in their own country.What law in Ghana gives chiefs the power to banish ghanaians from where they live?Chiefs are warned that Ghanaians will not tolerate their excesses.Their arbitrary behavior against their so-called subjects will not be tolerated.
