1. 'Dr Kwadwo Adinkra Appiah said the Polytechnic was in urgent need of a large capacity-seater bus for industrial and field work and appealed to the President to assist in that regard.' .. so the polytechnic can't even buy one large seater bus themselves with all the money they charge students?
2. 'He appealed for the construction of a pedestrian footbridge across the Sunyani-Kumasi highway at the frontage of the Polytechnic to curb the incidence of pedestrian knockdowns'...does the poly have civil engineering and welding programs at all? where do students of those programs do their field work? can't they design the footbridge and use their students to construct it?
it's clear the change of name is just to increase people's salary for doing the same thing. they don't need to be called universities to be technically equiped, and they don't need to be universities to award degrees. come to china and see polytechnics that have better infrastructure than african universities but are still called polytechnics. the important thing is they award degrees.
you can't teach students only theories and abstract principles and expect them to be technical. even the lecturers who teach don't know anything technical. they can't even assemble a television or an AC. chew and pour oldmen!!
you spend good money to educate people only for them to come out and be demonstrating on the streets against you to provide them jobs.
just allow the road side carpenters, electricians, masons, fitter, repairers, taylors, hairdressers, barbers, among others, teach the polytechnic students if all that the current poly lecturers can teach is theory. .. garbage in, garbage out!!!!
