Before the introduction of the Ghana Cedis, our currency was recorded in Cedis. After the redenomination (removing 4 zeros) in 2006, we called it Ghana Cedis. 1 GHC was then recorded as 10,000 cedis. in the accounting records. Therefore if we do not say 1 GHC, there would be confusion in the records. I believe that you have learnt something of value to-day!
