These are some of the strategies employed by the NPP to discredit current governmnet. Research shown that anytime NPP is in opposition, NPP creats artificial disaster in the country. For example, 1999 accra sport stadium disaster, killing of innocent women, set markets ablaze etc. When NPP came to power in 2000, all thses artificial disasters ended. Now NPP is in opposition again, so all these artificial disasters are created by the NPP. NPP is full wicked persons cum drugs business so NPP will find a way to discredit the current government. God will sEVERELY PUNISH ALL NPP MEMBERS BEHIND THE BURNING OF MARKETS IN GHANA.

This is a sad and unfortunate situation by all standards. People have lost their sources of livelihoods. Why do some of you turn this into trivial tribal and political issues instead of suggesting ideas to prevent future tragedies like this.
Who gains what from this?. Nobody does. It's about time business owners start insuring their property as a safeguard to total losses.
My heart goes out to them , especially the kids who are dependent on these victims.

Hmmm I witnessed it myself. It is worrying to see stores set abraze. The question still remains as when will this yearly problem be solved?

Massa do you live in Kumasi? The big answer is no.Ever since my infancy to date which is almost thirty years, there is no single year that the Kumasi central market has not caught fire so thats history for you.Just look at how our markets are constructed with a whole lot of illegal electrical connections and structures. So if there is an outbreak of a little fire what do you think will happen? All those people reasoning from a political line are the ones who are letting the country down.Think scientifically because thats where the world is moving now and not NPP/NDC.After all what has the two parties to show for after all these years in power.Mctweeeeeeee.

I visited Ghana in 2013 and I was stunned by what I saw in Kumasi. To my surprise, it seems there is no authority and order in the city at. The whole town has been turned into a big, dirty market place. All the streets are choked with people selling almost everywhere there space. From the central market and all its vicinity to as far as deep into the Adum commercial center is choked with people buying and selling stuff. When one ventures into the other suburbs one faces the same eyesore. You go to Bantama, Asafo, Krofrom, Aboabo, and in fact anywhere in the town and the people are selling things on the pavements and in between buildings. Now they have even taken over the main street in Suame preventing the free flow of traffic. Many have been killed or maimed accidentally by cars as a result of that. The scenario has engulfed the whole city including even Adum. I nearly shed tears for the city. There is therefore no wonder there is the perennial fire outbreaks in Kumasi
I think that in spite of all the economic hardships and the lack of jobs this not the way we should conduct our lives in the city. And I feel disappointed when efforts by the KMA to rebuild the market and the Kejetia lorry park are resisted by some of these traders
The Asantehene should call a grand meeting of all Asante people, especially those with expertise living in both Ghana and abroad, to think about the development of the region. They should come up with with a development plan for the city and the region as a whole. They should court ideas on how we can ourselves use the vast resources in the region that are lying dormant, to generate jobs for our women and the youth. We don’t have to wait for the government to do everything for us. For example, how can we generate jobs in tourism, agriculture, IT, the entertainment industry, sports, and a host of other avenues we can exploit? We don’t have to wait for the government because the government has too much on its hand. What are our chiefs doing? I think that we have so much in our midst that we should remain poor like we are now.
