Well, education, in modern times, is the greatest way to climb the social ladder and to prosperity.
Many educated Ewes ended up in administration since colonial times 'cos it was the prestigious thing to do; not petty trading in the markets in competition with illiterates. But many also ended up in the administration of the colonial businesses. Unfortunately, many of them, people like my father, were drafted into the administration of the new businesses the CPP started setting up, as they were the people with the requisite skills from the UAC, JB Ollivant, John Holt Bartholomew, and the rest of them in the AWAM business conglomerates.
Of course, some like Gbedema and Nkulenu, were also pioneer industrialists.
And many, many of them ended in the educational and health sectors. Without them even more so today, those sectors will grind to a halt. Don't tell me teaching leads one to prosperity in Ghana. Neither does nursing! Can all Ewes teachers and health personnel be withdrawn from the Akan areas? the VR director of healt, himself from the E/R was reported as saying that 70% of all health personnel originate from the VR but they have difficult getting adequate such staff for the VR health institutions! That's what the newly appointed Minister of Health Segbefia should have spoken about on his maiden visit to the VR instead of making that stupid statement he made.
Anyway, if all Ewes get with their presumably "useless certificates" are jobs in the ministries and you Akans are getting so rich in business and are industrial magnates controlling the economy, why all this animus against these poor Ewes?

When are you going to learn and realise that the Akan ethnic group, as defined by the Bonduku Conference, is simply the largest ethnic group in Ghana and not a majority of the Ghanaian population yet; in spite of the high, uncontrolled birth rate amongst the Akans? So, they have increased their pop. Share to 47% from 44% but that's still a far cry from 50% plus 1! So, even if all Akan voters voted for the NPP, and all the other ethnic groups referred to as minorities voted for the NDC, the NPP will NEVER GET INTO POWER AGAIN!
But we know that not all people defined as Akan like the NPP. In fact, some hated the NPP more than some Ewes. Take my Nzema customer, for example. He practically froths at the mouth at the mention of the NPP. And he made it plain that he hates Asantes who dominate the NPP. Eh! If you see the anger in his eyes when he speaks, you won't like it, so I don't raise the subject with him anymore. According to him, if I knew whatthe Asantes say about even one of their closest neighbours, the Sefwis, and I were a Sefwi, I'd go and hang myself! Phew! I had a clue what he meant but kept quiet. One of my cousins is married to man from Sefwi Wiawso, and when collecting data from the Amanano Rural Bank in Nyinahin, I was taken to one of their branches across the border in Bibiani or so and picked some of the vibes. Not pleasant.
So Mr Ethnocentric Jerk, you are an envious loser! I am indeed an Anlo and no Asante mess around with us even during the days of Dane guns and slave raids.
