Ammonium nitrate is one of the active substances which is hazardous to health and so its use and storage should be controlled. Workers who are exposed to it require constant monitoring and regular health checks. But in Ghana such things are, severally, overlooked in the work place. Workers and handlers of this substance must be properly informed and about its effect to health and properly trained. Adequate protective clothing is needed to handle them. Some of these clothing may be beyond the purchasing power of some employers in the Ghanaian business community and, therefore, could cut corners. But, it is essential that they must be used, at all times, when dealing in these substances.
