The current administration (executive, parliament, judiciary) must provide the National Commission on Civic Education with the necessary resources its needs to perform its responsibilities now.
In order to perform its duties the NCCE must hold quizzes and debates especially amongst school children. The NCCE must also publish the winners of all past competitions or broadcast the competitions to increase civic awareness.
The state owned media must help NCCE in this regard without charging.

Fancy speeches to big crowds on big days is all very well. But will you first take ownership of and responsibility for this goal of improving BECE results in the region? There are tried and tested ways and means of improving poor school performance: you should've moved swiftly on to what would be 'the Marshal Plan' to reclaim high standards and restore good performance in our schools by doing everything in your armoury including both throwing the kitchen sink at it and moving the cavalry (the battalion of the Ghana Armed Forces stationed in Wa) into those schools which require that medicine for discipline to be maintained for academic work to flourish. Under decentralisation, aren't the DCEs and the MCE responsible for Education? And, aren't they district directors and the municipal director responsible for delivering good results in their respective districts? Shouldn't they go if they fail? Surely, it cannot continue to be hunky-dory and, therefore, business as usual when they have failed in their responsibility with such consistency, can it? So, instead of blowing smoke up the arses of public officers in-charge of the education of our children, our regional minister should start torching the anuses of those few officers who are paid to ensure our schools are led by persons capable and willing to deliver great and good results who have a stake in the communities they work in.

Terribly Specific! Am I reading right? When did you begin to see the truth and the light. Truth is NDC three year "Quality Education" has messed up he SHS. The High score which Mahama taunts NPP with in his State of the Nation address is actually results of the 4-year SHS scholars in 2012. Instead of seeing the truth and following it, NDC is destroying Ghana's education so they can continue to deceive the people with cheap propaganda

Your usage of the word "slaves" is a bit of a hyperbole. We all grew up doing various chores and helping our parents in farms while going to school at the same time. I never considered those activities as slavery because they were absolutely necessary in our poor famlies for survival. I agree with you that the caliber of teachers are very poor nowdays. We get what we are paying for.

In Europe these days child;ren starts a free nursery at 3 yrs so when they reach 6 yrs they are better place to write an imaginative composition and more likely to ask their teachers more challenging question and back by child protection policies no teacher can inhumanly torture any child through beating and humilation that some of us had to live with. However say this to the minister of Education and she thinks you live in a dream world. Yet look at the stories coming out would it not be better to introduce a free kindergarten type of education to our little children to have an early start in life. What the minister of Educaiton is failing to understand is tomorrow children will be Ghana 's future and have our educational system prepared these children enough to challenge authorities that is are our children resilient enough to see Ghana through to our next stage of development in 22nd century. I doubt this and if one tries to share ideas her loud mouth deputy would say something loosely from his anus without thinking it through.

Neasack, it might be good idea to start with free nursery at age 3 but simple put the qualified teachers are not there. The education system was destroyed by Rawlings hence he sent his children to London to be schooled at the expense of the tax payer but came with his flimsy excuse that some friends of his footed his children's education bills. Recently, you might have heard what Konadu A-Rawlings said, that her relatives helped their children's education.
I once visited a lady friend of mine at UST Secondary School and this lady asked me to help mark her students exam papers. Guess what, after the 3rd paper, I had to retire and never attempted to contract headache. Their English were bad to the extend that, you hardly understood what they were trying to tell. The entire education system needs to be overhauled with emphasis on Teacher Training Colleges which present Administration is not attaching any importance to it.
One thing in Ghana today among students is that they are not cultivating the habit of reading which enhances your speaking and writing capabilities. Even those who have access to internet will go online for one nonsense thing ------porno and that will not do them any good eventually. The country have a long way to go after our 58 useless years of independence. E&OE.
