There is a LOT OF CORRUPTION going on in Mary Mother of Good Counsel School right here in Dzorwulu, Accra.
There is an inexperienced headmistress who is conniving with unscrupulous teachers to dupe parents of hard earned cash.
All in the presence and knowledge of the parent teacher association, whose president is a mere stooge and puppet.
And there is fear among the parents who cannot complain because they believe that their wards will be penalized by the school authorities if they show their faces.
And the sad thing is that there is Local manager (a very arrogant priest of dubious character when it comes to money matters: yes we know) who knows what is going on and does not speak out.
The question every one is asking is this: "does Bishop know all that is going on"? And if so why the silence?
Remember, The PTA cannot do much if the executives are on the "payroll" of the school authorities.
Folks if you think I am making this up get a copy of todays "Finder" newspaper. In it there is the story of a student who was bound with ropes to a chair, his mouth cello taped, simply because a teacher felt he was being stubborn. And the Headmistress and her assistant knew this. Also the Manager was aware (then or at a later date) and did nothing (or has done nothing). The teacher is still at post as if nothing happened. I am by this alerting CHRAJ (or whatever the acronym is)to step in since this is a clear case of child abuse. If this were my child me and the school authorities will be dancing the Tango, with an axe or spear as a mediator. Trust me....
I am a catholic but at this point I can say that this is DISGRACEULL.
And since everything I am saying here is true, I am covered by the Blood of Jesus. Nothing anyone from that school will wish on me will happen. in fact any ill intention will fall right back on their doorsteps. Ten times fold.

I pay therefore I can dictate. A high - handed approach won't get you very far, try patience and dialogue and remember schools have handled many more children and parents than any parent ever will. Later on he was CANED by a fully grown male teacher. All this in the presence of the little kid's classmates. This is traumatic even when it is done to an adult human being.

I think the parents should take legal action against the the teacher, management and the board. If an adult had been assaulted in that manner legal action would have been taken. This is a total violation of the child's rights! Lessons need to be learnt here!

This is what you will get from this catholic school when the Archbishop has refused to listen to all complaints and appeals (verbal and written) from both low and high in society to remove the current headmistress from the school. These are bad times for Catholics. It is just the tip of the iceberg.
Since this lazy, abusive and incompetent Rev. Sister was appointed through the back door to replace the previous effective headmistress, the school has always been in the news for bad reasons. There have been numerous accusations of rude behavior and corruption against the current headmistress. All these have been given deaf ears by the Vicar General and the Archbishop for a reason.
What is the reason? Money, money, money. It is an open secret that the previous Headmistress was transferred because she was reluctant to transmit 15% of the school revenue annually to the Archdiocese. She would rather see to the school’s development first. Why transmit 15% of revenue regardless of the expenditure and not 15% of the profit? To ensure that, the directive to transmit the 15% revenue was obeyed to the letter, a mediocre of an unqualified Rev. Sister in the person of the current headmistress was appointed about 3 years ago. Her total allegiance is therefore to the Vicar General and the Archbishop, who are holding the institution in trust for all Catholics, but not to the Catholic Church. She does not show any respect to parishioners who are the collective owners of the school.
What do we all see after her appointment? 1. Laziness – She sleeps at home during school hours so if you want see her, go to her office after 2pm when she wakes. 2. Corruption – she is highly corrupt. Friends told me how they had to present brown envelopes to her personally to get their kids enrolled at the Kindergarten. It is a pity. She is a disgrace to Catholics and the sisterhood dress she is wearing. 3. Mediocrity- She is semi-literate so all her correspondences are fully written for her by other teachers. She is unable to put sentences together herself. Her English grammar is very bad – Teachers and pupils are all aware of this and therefore she commands little respect. She is gradually replacing all the good/experienced teachers with her type. The once bright light has started dimming. She has very little concern about actual progress of pupils, students and teachers. All she thinks about is money, money, money. Well, that is why she was planted at the school anyway. 4. Rude behavior – She is rude to everybody except her godfathers at the tower.
With such attitude, why won’t the school decline? Why won’t the teachers and pupils do what they like. Just recently we heard of the practice of pornography by the JHS students at the school with circulation of nude pictures of female students in and out of the school. In a Catholic School headed by a Rev. Sister??? Parents are exploited financially daily by the headmistress with no higher authority to keep her in check. She has the full blessing of the Vicar General and the Archbishop so far as she continues with the transmission the 15% revenue to their office without fail. For this reason, she is a ‘darling girl’ hence her arrogance, rude and corrupt behavior. So fellow parishioners and parents who think she will be removed sooner or later are living in a fool’s paradise. It is highly unlikely to happen if she continues to play by the ‘agreed rule’. By the way, I could not stomach this so I removed my kids from the school. God help you if your child is still at the school. But beware ‘the light is diming fast’. – Kwame Aboagye.

Kwame, I agree with u 100%. The most annoying thing is that the Rev. Minister, who supervises the school, is conveniently mute because he actually uses the school funds with impunity to fund most of the Church’s projects including the parish house he is currently occupying. The civilized society expects Churches to subsidize Schools and not the other way round. Parishioners of The Mary Mother are made up of some of the most influential and rich in Accra but this uninspiring priest-in-charge finds it easier to dip his hands into the school coffers when he can easily raise funds for church’s projects. The whole thing stinks of religious corruption. No wonder parents are asked to pay more and more fees year in year out not necessarily for the development of the school.
