The fact that Bagabaga College of Education was established in 1944, and was one of the oldest educational institutions in northern Ghana, disproves the myth being peddled around that Nkrumah introduced Education into the North. This myth has been expressed implicitly or explicitly over the years, and one Nkrumahist even said that Northerners should pray for his soul every day for making it possible for them to be able to read and write and to understand the need to put on clothes.
The truth is that, Western Education had been introduced into the North long before Kwame Nkrumah became Prime Minister of the Gold Coast, and Northern leaders like S.D Dombo, Jato Keleo, B.K Adama, Tolon Naa, Bawumia and many others might have completed their education and started their careers long before Nkrumah was brought from the UK to serve as General Secretary of the group that was fighting for our independence.
It was, therefore, disappointing to see Mr. Mahama plying dirty politics by honouring Nkrumah where he shouldn't been honoured at all because; Kwame Nkrumah had nothing to do with the establishment and development of BAC. By his action, Mr. Mahama is deliberately perpetuating the myth that Nkrumah civilized northern Ghanaians by introducing Education to them.
Even the much talked about free education in the North that has always been associated with Nkrumah and which Mr. Mahama himself enjoyed, was initiated and put forward for adoption by S.D Dombo, as a bargain or political horse trading to accept Nkrumah's unitary state proposal. It was, therefore, not a humanitarian initiative by Nkrumah to enlighten Northern Ghanaians, and we should give Mr. Dombo his due.

Its MPs who decide which project the govt should fund, the president never back any project from paliament. After all he and his govt have more MPs and he trust his MPs to do the right thing.
Uppers west elect MPs who only aim is to be a minister. Ministers fight for equality while elected Members work for the who elected them.
Rasid, Bagbin are nothing but post mongers. If these MPs from the region cant meet in paliament with their project to be fund, what is really they job. Its not the govt who is tarring the roads, it the MPs of that region.
Ask the MPs you elected to represent how much will it cost to tar the roads. They dont know because they never though to tar the roads in the first place.
The minister in Wa is from Tumu, how shameful. Sulemani is the most useless person from all the MPs put together.
I will tell you why, he been a minister longer than any minister in the upper west and jet travel home on a dusty road. He doesnt care about his own people. Its not that the govt dont have money for the roads, it the MPs who dont know how much the project will cost. If the roads tarring will cost $20m, all they ought to do give it to paliament for approval and give the contract to the one who bit $20m.
For MPs to get the price of the cost of the roads they are waiting for the govt to guess the price. Projects are not completed because the amount bit by the contracts are wrong and the Minister know it.
You dont give contracts out without knowing how much it will cost.
Dont vote for those MPs so useless they did nothing better but just call us fool.
Hamidu has been a minister of this dusty roads since June 4 when Rawlings took over his his uncle Liman. Hypocrate. Did he know Rawlings was going to overthrow his unlce Liman?
