GHANA'S PARLIAMENT:------------
The Minority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu says a whopping amount of $23 billion cannot be accounted for by the NDC government from 2009 till date. The amount forms a large chunk of a $27 billion loan contracted by the Mills and Mahama government for purposes of infrastructural development.
The Suame MP made the revelation on the floor of Parliament Wednesday, to wind up the debate on the 2015 Budget Statement.
According to him, the NDC administration has since 2009 borrowed over $27 billion, an amount which did not include oil proceeds and government revenues. Unfortunately, he added, 90 percent of the money had gone into recurrent expenditure.
"In the 2015 budget the Minister of Finance has enumerated a number of signature projects that have been financed by these borrowings since 2009…the total expenditure of which come to $3.5 billion out of the $27 billion borrowed. So where is the rest of the money?" he demanded.
"How do you account for the $23.5 billion, Mr. Minister?" he demanded further. He hinted the minority will haul the Minister of Finance before the House to answer to Ghanaians what the unaccounted amount was used for.

Today it is these poor guys who are the victims, tomorrow it will be the ones who are demolishing the property who will be crying.

Crooked elites all around. Mahama did a deal with NPP after the election petition trial by allowing Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey to keep the bungalow the state gave him during his tenure in the Kufuor administration. When it comes to the ordinary citizens of the land, there is no such accommodation / backroom deals! They are to be treated less than even dirt or animals.
I look forward to the day there will be a Burkina-style uprising with Mahama fleeing to his real estate properties in Abu Dhabi.

This government must go-Period. To sit down and allow such barbaric acts to happen is really sad. In a country where housing is such a significant number cannot afford to own their own property, you do not pool down houses. If people have encroached then it must be beyond redemption to undertake such actions. But look, people get paid by big men and the police and the security services are abused. A lot of land has been demarcated for projects drawn hundred years ago, that will never happen in our life time. The best thing is to re-negotiate and redraw unless these house are seriously a danger to society. But pulling them down tells of the wickedness of the people in power.

We all know how corrupt the system is especially when it comes to land matters with one plot of land being sold to two or more people by some dubious people in the society but to say the government must go because of something no government has been able to tackle since generation is outrageous.

One of the main problem is our lands commission and their leaders.
Most of them are liars and totally corrupt. why? because of money they always put people in trouble. Issuing fake documents to people. And at the end this is the results people get.
They need to be sacked or reshuffle or the works there.
Ghana needs 10 North Korea men and 10 Chinese men to be ministers in the country. Believe me they will transform the country within 2 years with their iron hands and faithfulness they have for their nation.
Thank you.

I am sorry and feel the pain for all the victims of this exercise but I also do not think they deserve any compensations they should rather do the right things next time when they want to buy lands because it is just wrong and unacceptable to build on somebody's land which has been duly acquired just by dolling out monies to some unscrupulous chiefs who will prey on your innocence and sell a land to you knowing well it had already been sold out.All nations are made of laws and we need to enforce them at least bring some sanity. The days of anarchy should and is history we live now in a civil society where the rule of law must be upheld. It should not just the survival of the fittest whereby you have to be a macho man to survive,When such demolitions go on people will start to do the right things. The days when people thought it was ok to just acquire lands through the back door and just build quickly to get to window level to avoid demolition is history. This is civil society.Period.

After the Home Demolition in Tema directed by the TDC, one would have thought the Ministry of Housing and the Parliament would step in to ascertain the circumstances leading to the demolition, and immediately move to prevent its future recurrence.
We do not have any detailed information on this incident, either, as to who ordered the demolition and how long were the house owners engaged in settling any dispute that led to the demolition. All we are told in this report is that the buildings were demolished because some claims the land did not belong to the owners of the buildings torn down.
How do we know who is telling the truth in the core issue of who owns the land? Were the Courts involved in settling the dispute? Did the order to demolish come from the Courts, or some, possibly, dubious bribe-soaked bureaucrat?
Why would the Police lead the way to inflict such a massive life-disrupting exercise and property destruction upon the ordinary poor folks without any prior alert? Should we take it that the Police is now paid to do someone's dirty job for them by intimidating the victims with their presence to facilitate their incapacity to fight back?
Such incidents make Ghana look grossly hooliganistic and our leaders, cruel.
These victims may have to be compensated for their loss. We should not forget that when the Properties were being built, the Officials who may have ordered their destruction today, were sitting around aloof, taking their salaries. Now, they are pretending to be doing their work by allowing this crime to be committed against the poor folks.
Even if the land belonged to the Government, there should have been a due process to establish that fact and to identify who, then, might have defrauded the victims to sell them the land that did not belong to the sellers.
What a shame!!
Long Live Ghana!!!

Mr. Berko, some of these people has been compensated adequately to move out from water ways, roads, reserved demarcation governmental areas, etc. As usual though, most of them collect the money and still want to pull a smart one on the authority. A lot of places in Accra is impossible to walk or even drive through since designated areas such as my above aforementioned have all become a choked-up building area. However, should disaster strike these unlawful occupied areas, these same people complaining today in here would be the same souls to chastise the government hardest for leaving them in the loop to dry.
Some may argued that they did not know since they were cheated by the chiefs for purchasing such lands. Well, that may be so and most have been a victim to such or witness a thing or two concerning these crooked chiefs in the system down there, but if a government apparatus come to brake down a building, then there is a compensation paid prior to the demolition or warning issued long before the bring in the bulldozers. It's as simply as that.
