Every life is precious so the Government must do something about these accidents, for they are killing more people than Ebola, Aids or Cholera.

Avoidable deaths. The law does not work in this country. For example the govt has leveled the roads in my area to for asphalt/bitumen,squatters in the area are digging across the the road to lay illegal pipe lines, electricit ... read full comment
Avoidable deaths. The law does not work in this country. For example the govt has leveled the roads in my area to for asphalt/bitumen,squatters in the area are digging across the the road to lay illegal pipe lines, electricity cables and creating speed ramps. Everybody body is driving about without questioning them. I reported to the station and I was told by the police to go to TMA or GWSC if I have proof. What a country we live in?

MY TAKE ON WHY WE HAVE THAT MANY ACCIDENTS IS THAT CERTAIN GHANAIANS BOUGHT THEIR LICENSES WITHOUT GOING THROUGH THE PROCESS OF PROVING THEIR COMPETENCY IN DRIVING, READING AND UNDERSTANDING ROAD SIGNS. ANOTHER AREA IS THE SIGNAGE OF THE ROADS IN GHANA. SOMETIMES DRIVERS IN A RUSH IGNORE TRAFFIC SIGNS AND THE RULES GUIDING ALL DRIVERS. ANOTHER AREA TO ME IS ENFORCEMENT OF THE RULES AND PUNISHING OR ARRESTING GUILTY PARTIES FOR PUNISHMENT. THE POLICE I HAVE NOTICED, ARE NOT ENFORCING THE RULES WHEN THEY SEE PEOPLE DOING WRONG THINGS. UNTIL AND UNLESS THESE INFRACTIONS ARE CORRECTED AND PEOPLE MADE TO PAY FINES, THINGS WILL GET WORSE ON OUR ROADS. THE MINISTRY OF HIGHWAYS TO ENSURE ROAD MARKINGS AND WARNINGS ARE IN PLACE. WITHOUT VISIBLE ROAD MARKINGS, NIGHT DRIVING BECOMES DANGEROUS UNLESS YOU HAVE TRAVELLED AND KNOW THE GEOMETRY OF THE ROAD WELL. SPEED LIMITS MUST BE POSTED AND ENFORCED BY THE POLICE. SOMETIMES WHEN THE POLICE ARREST A DRIVER MISBEHAVING, INSTEAD OF HAVING HIM PUNISHED, THEY JUST GET MONEY FROM THE DRIVER AND LET HIM GO SCOTT FREE. THE MISBEHAVIOUR THEN CONTINUES BY THE DRIVERS.

Our Roads are deathtraps. the causes are clear. bad and poorly maintained roads,lack of maintenance of vehicles,method of lincensing and bad law enforcement.We are losing a lot of people on our roads and our goverments have no clue that it is serious healthcar crisis. We are killing a lot of our people and I have not heard any President make reducing road accident a priority. I get angry whenever I hear another road carnage in the country. Ghanaians deserve to be safe when travelling on roads.
