D Edward Kofi Omane-Boamah, Minister of Communications, I almost fell off my chair when I read your childish attempt to lie about the devaluation of the Cedis in your statement covered by CAJnewsAfrica. For the record, you reported the following,
"The Minister of Communications, Edward Omane Boamah, said the government was particularly unenthused by suggestions that the Ghana cedi had fallen by 40 percent this year, insisting the cedi has fallen by 22,9 percent instead.
“According to the Bank of Ghana, the cedi traded at 2,34 against the US dollar in January 2014, and as of Friday 1st August, 2014, it stood at 3,035 to the US dollar, reflecting a cumulative depreciation of 22,9 percent over the period,” the statement clarified.
So let me correct your silly corrupt attempt to hide the truth.
On the 01/01/13, 2.350 GHC = 1 US Dollar. Hmm, well done Minister of Communications.. correct!
On the 01/08/13, 3.412 GHC = 1 US Dollar. Hmm, bad boy Minister, thats not even close to the 3.025 you claim.
So let's recalculate..
3.412 minus 2.350 = 1.062
1.062 divided by 2.35 = 45%
So the international News agencies were being kind when they talked about 40%.
Now, your story was reported on the 13th of August, and year to date devaluation to that day is a whopping 57% !!!
Stop Communicating Lies Dr Edward Kofi Omane-Boamah. You sound so corrupt when you lie to your people.
