Oh!Kade,In the first place,I put the blame on the door steps of all stake holders and the opinion leaders not excluding the District security council( DISEC)for this breach and lapses and what is more,a total failure as far as crime prevention,protection of lives and properties in such a trouble spot are concerned.I understand the District security committe or council met both bereaved families on conflict prevention in a pro active manner so as to avoid any crash.So what happened ? I think this unfortunate should be probed for the perpetrators to brought to book. However,the District and the Divisional Police should be Proactive and make sure that the New chief's outdooring ceremony is not obstracted and disturbed by similar act. And it imperative to remind the security capus in the sense that;'Ones patient is just like elastic.It can stretch only to a point,and beyoung that point,it breaks.'Therefore, I expect the District,Divisonal and the Regional Police commanders and their men not to be compromised Bribed/Bought by the distooled or ex-chief and his instigators.Otherwise, "Woyooo,woyo.,........ And for the beleaguered ex-chief (AGYARE TENADU),He should learn to accept defeat in good faith after all,He is in the same family.But, there is an adage which says; THE PRICE OF ARROGANCE IS DISGRACE BECAUSE, PRIDE GOES BEFORE A FALL. Because you and your men complied with the Police orders and instruction or advise,they fought the battle for you. Therefore, it pays to wait on God. And also, Patient they say;moves mountains. I urge you and the entire citizens to protect the peace you are currently enjoying. We are solidly behind you to protect our families for us.In addition,put proper security measures in place to prevent any distruction or attack or disturbances before,during and after the outdooring of the newly installed Chief of our beloved town, KADE. This spate of Chieftaincy hooliganism must end or that traditional institution would fast wane in significance. Luckily, no guns were involved, here. It could have cost precious lives.
Even so, the case must be fully investigated and all culprits prosecuted to the full extent of the Law.
Barely a month ago, similar disruption of Peace, and endangering People's lives was said to have occurred at Nsoatre, B/A. In that incident, the destooled Chief of the town, some Professor of the Institute of Traditional Medicine at Akwapem Mampong, was reported to have organized some thugs, possibly paid youths, to attack certain personalities in the Town including the Sub-Chiefs who led the movement to destool him, and terrorize the Public.
This same former Chief had caused a mayhem that ended up in many fatalities during his initial quest for the Stool at Nsoatre a few years back.
I recognize many more such violent conflicts exist all over the Country. It is therefore imperative that the Minister of Interior leads the way to discuss with the various levels of Houses of Chiefs and the Law Enforcement Authorities to find ways of avoiding those conflicts. The Minister should encourage Nananom to devise a formal, common strategy to verify and confirm heirs to these Stools. That would eliminate the sudden appearances of shady characters from nowhere to claim Stools and begin violent confrontations.
I have long suggested that the Nation should have a register of all Royal lineages and their Family trees with the Ministry of Interior, for all Towns and villages. If we could undertake Census to count all Citizens, such a Register could be just as possible. The ascent of Chiefs to their Stools, as well as their destoolment, must be always gazetted and certified at the Courts by appropriate local Authorities. Such records must also be well protected, and defy unlawful alterations.
It is about time our Traditional leaders took advantage of the modern Technological developments to enhance the functions of their Institution. Or, they would eventually be left way back to fade away.
I cannot emphasize enough the need for all Royalties to construct their Family Trees, and with the help of living witnesses in their communities have them certified and Registered with the Ministry of Interior.
