All heads of Secondary Schools disagreed with President Mills when he decided to reduce the number of years of senior high school from 4 yrs to 3. The public would like to know what Naadu, who was a former secondary school teacher, told President Mills when he decided to take this action.
WAEC must modernize its practices. It must have 4 different sets of questions to be shared alternatingly in the classroom. WAEC must not forget the aims of the earlier education reform. The JSS is to enable JSS graduates find employment when necessary. Therefore WAEC must generate good BASIC EDUCATION CERTIFICATES for this purpose.
Nowadays businesses and government organisations have stopped demanding Secondary School Certificate or Basic Education Certificate.
Each of these certificates are important. For example for many tertiary graduates the only certificate that can tell whether one can speak good English or whether one has adequate knowledge of Mathematics is the Secondary School Certificate.
Similarly the only certificate that can tell whether a tertiary graduate has basic knowledge of Ghanaian history, culture, agriculture and the basic geography of West Africa is the Basic Education Certificate.
There have been reports of no police presence during KNUST examinations especially at the medical school at KATH.
With WASSCE and BECE there is police presence and any student caught cheating is immediately arrested. University exams demand even greater policing.
The Takoradi Poly Students who were sacked for applying with fake certificates must be prosecuted in a court of competent jurisdiction. Just sacking them is not enough.
