K. Boateng, this happens at the Usof A. I tok my friend to Hilandale hospital but was refered to Grady hospital. At almighty USA, it took more than 24 hours before he was assigned a a bed annd another 10 hours before a Doctor will attend to him. The simple reason was that they were overbooked and there were even no beds. Hospital protocol prevents patients from being treated in the hallway. The only alternative was to wait and pray. This has not happened to my friend only. There are many Ghanaian nurses working in thst place and they can confirm what I am saying.
I am not holding brief for the Doctores but the Govt has to find ways of working with them. No promises if they cannot be materalized.
Grady Hospital is in Atlanta,GA. Call to find out the waiting period to be admitted on a bed at the 5th floor.

The rot at KATH has gone for far too long from probably around the 1989s and among some of the issues at KATH to me as a previous patient were that some nurses were selling medicines to patients, some doctors were illegally collecting moneys from patients in their respective consulting rooms, some doctors asking their very sick patients to see them in their private hospitals, illegal collections of moneys before operations were performed using government resources, mortuary men illegally taking moneys from bereveathed families in order to store their dead relatives appropriately or they risk find their dead relative in the container outside the main morgue, and recently the use of mobiles phones by majority of health worker instead of attending to patients. The issue is that doctors and others get away from been challenged or taken to task if things go wrong and it cuts across the whole country from drivers recklessly killing people through reckless and careless driving, teachers not going to school by collecting sick leave from doctors for weeks, but can be visibly seen in the market or their shops selling their wares, some district directors of education taking bribes and not transferring their staff, lands department staff and many more. Its not only KATH that is rotten.

If we cannot sort out our roads, the transport minister must take responsibility and resign or be pushed.
If we begin holding people at the top to their responsibilities, discipline will filter down because they will make sure others do their job
