Stop this waste of state resources. The late former president was given a fitting and lasting farewell last year. Why do we seek to mourn his death all over again? Margaret Thatcher, the former prime minister of the UK, died and was given a befitting farewell. Even UK, with all its wealth do not intend to mourn Margaret Thatcher all over again when the first anniversary of her death comes up even though she served longer and achieved more than late president Mills. These are some of the reasons why Ghana will remain a poor country. You complain you have no money to implement the single spine fully and to pay our key professionals like nurses, pharmacists and doctors well but you have money to lavish on a funeral that has already been celebrated.
Where is the accountability or do we just do stupid things because we lack the intelligence to make effective decisions or both?
The waste is not just in monetary terms but the human and material resources thrown at this 1 year celebration are enormous. Lets grow up as a nation. When President Limman died, we did not waste state resources in this manner. Was it because President Limann's party was not in power?
Apart from an agreed process and procedure from transition from one president after another's term has ended, the government also needs to come up with an agreed protocol for saying goodbye to our former presidents when their time comes to say good bye to us.
