Aworowa Gets a New Chief

after 36 years of Chieftaincy Dispute

From Joe Kingsley Eyiah, Aworowa-Techiman, Ghana

Joyous celebration descended on the township of Aworowa near Techiman in the Brong Ahafo of Ghana on Friday, August 24, 2012 as a new chief was installed there after a long period of protracted chieftaincy struggle in the area.
The new chief is in the person of Salisu, a Senior High School tutor, who now goes by the stool name Nana Kwame Yeboah III

After his installation, the new chief described himself as the accepted choice for all the factions in the area and pledged to uphold the confidence put in him to promote peace and bring development to the people of Aworowa. Nana Yeboah III therefore appealed for the unflinching support of all and sundry during his rule as the “Asomdwehene” of Aworowa.

The kingmakers and many citizens of Aworowa expressed their satisfaction at the ascendency to the hitherto vacant throne of Aworowa by Nana Kwame Yeboah III
It would be recalled that our President, His Excellency John Dramani Mahama during his tenure as the Vice President of Ghana, in May this year, expressed concern over the numerous chieftaincy disputes in the country, and called on chiefs to come out with mechanisms that would help ensure that such disputes are resolved amicably. Kingmakers of Aworowa should therefore be commended for heeding such clarion call! To God be the glory.
