The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Fanteakwa South, Mercy Korang, has spearheaded a massive development drive in Akyem Osino, commissioning a mechanised borehole and cutting the sod for two major infrastructure projects in healthcare and education.
The eventful day marks a significant milestone in the district’s ongoing efforts to improve the living standards, health, and educational outcomes of its residents.
The first of the day's events was the groundbreaking ceremony for a new Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound, complete with nurses' quarters, for the Osino Zongo community.
Awarded to Omini Carve Engineering, the healthcare project is scheduled for completion within eight months. The facility is expected to significantly boost accessible healthcare delivery in the community, ending years of struggles for residents who previously had to travel long distances for basic medical attention.

Boosting Education Infrastructure
In her second stop, Mercy Korang cut the sod for the construction of a modern six-unit classroom block at Akyem Osino Presby School . The facility comes fully equipped with a staff common room, a headmaster’s office, and ultra-modern washrooms to create a conducive learning environment.
The contract has been awarded to Aviana Enterprise, with an eight-month completion timeline.
The Fanteakwa South Education Director, Richard A. Akosah Addo, expressed profound gratitude to the DCE for prioritizing education in the district.
"She has remembered her children. This project will greatly help us boost enrollment when completed, and it will make the children feel safe and secure," Akosah Addo stated.

Safe Water for Osino SHS
To cap off the day's activities, the DCE commissioned a newly constructed mechanised borehole equipped with a 6,000-litre polytank at Osino Senior High School (SHS).
Speaking to the media, Mercy Korang explained the motivation behind the water project, noting that she was deeply concerned about students risking their lives by crossing the Accra to Kumasi busy highway in search of water. She assured residents and students that more such life-saving interventions are on the way.

The Headmaster of Osino SHS, Alex Lartey, thanked the DCE for the timely intervention and pledged that the school administration would ensure the facility is properly maintained.
However, Alex Lartey also used the opportunity to appeal for additional dormitories to accommodate the school's rapidly growing student population. He pointed out that the current shortage of boarding space forces many students to commute daily between the old and new sites for morning classes, a situation he noted hinders optimal academic performance.

With these newly launched projects, Mercy Korang continues to demonstrate her commitment to grassroots development, leaving local residents hopeful for a more prosperous future in Fanteakwa South.
