Some traders in the Kumasi Metropolis of the Ashanti Region have assured the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, of their readiness to support his presidential bid in the 2028 elections.

The traders at the Kumasi Racecourse Market said they would vote massively for the NPP’s Flagbearer this time around to ensure that he becomes President in the next general election.

They made this known on Wednesday when the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, alias Asanteman COKA, donated trunks and chop boxes to some needy students preparing to enter Senior High School (SHS).

Speaking to OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng after the donation, the traders revealed that they failed to vote in the 2024 elections but had now decided to vote in the next polls.

“Indeed, we are ready for change. Yes, most of us here failed to vote in the 2024 polls, but we regret taking that decision,” one trader said.

“Now, we have resolved to vote massively for the NPP in the 2028 polls after the party’s Chairman, Asanteman COKA, met with us and assured us of the party’s support.”

The Queen Mother for the Yam Sellers’ Line, Nana Yaa Foriwaa, who received the donation on behalf of the traders, said traders had historically supported the NPP.

She said the traders would support the NPP in the next general elections, adding that they had put aside all the sentiments that prevented them from voting in the 2024 elections.

However, she called on the NPP to avoid repeating the actions that contributed to the party’s defeat in the 2024 elections.
