The Eastern Regional Hospital and St. Joseph Catholic Hospital in Koforidua have received medical beds and healthcare equipment valued at GH¢400,000 to support healthcare delivery at the two facilities.

Hospital authorities say the donation is expected to help address challenges related to bed capacity and other logistical constraints as both hospitals continue to experience increasing demand for healthcare services.

The items include hospital beds and other medical equipment used in patient care and hospital operations.

Receiving the equipment, the Hospital Manager of St. Joseph Catholic Hospital, Philemon Kofi Quansah, and the Clinical Director of the Eastern Regional Hospital, Dr. Foster Amponsah Manu, acknowledged the support and noted that both facilities have been facing pressure on available beds and medical resources due to rising patient numbers.

According to them, the additional equipment will contribute to ongoing efforts to improve patient management and service delivery.

The officials also highlighted the importance of partnerships and external support in complementing efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure and services.

The donation was made by the CA Foundation. Its founder, Cynthia Adjei, said the intervention was motivated by concerns about challenges within the healthcare system, including inadequate hospital infrastructure and bed shortages.

She stated that the Foundation's support forms part of efforts to provide health facilities with equipment needed for patient care and disclosed that similar donations have been made to other hospitals across the country.

Adjei also called for continued collaboration among stakeholders to support healthcare delivery and urged the beneficiary institutions to ensure the proper maintenance and effective use of the equipment.

The Members of Parliament for New Juaben South and New Juaben North, Michael Okyere Baafi and Nana Osei Adjei respectively, who facilitated the donation, described it as a contribution toward addressing some of the challenges facing health facilities in the area.

They reiterated the importance of collaboration among government agencies, development partners, charitable organisations, and private individuals in supporting the health sector.

The donation adds to the available resources at the two hospitals as they continue to provide healthcare services to residents of Koforidua and surrounding communities.
