A near-completed newly constructed multi-storey building has been demolished in Elubo in Ghana’s Western Region, reportedly to pave the way for an expansion of the road network.

A video shared on social media shows the multi-level structure, which featured brick and stone cladding, decorative window grilles, and scaffolding still attached, being pulled down by an excavator.

Security personnel, including military and police officers, were heavily present at the demolition site, while several residents gathered to witness the exercise.

Some community members were seen recording the demolition with their phones as the structure was gradually brought down.

The excavator began the process by targeting the lower sections of the building and the remaining scaffolding, causing wooden supports and debris to collapse.

The demolition continued upwards as the machine tore through the walls, creating large openings and sending clouds of dust into the air. Within moments, the entire structure was reduced to rubble.
