Four people have been rescued following two separate road traffic accidents along the Peki–Asikuma stretch in the Volta Region on Sunday, May 24, 2026.
According to a statement by the Ghana National Fire Service on May 25, 2026, the incidents occurred within hours of each other and triggered emergency rescue operations by personnel from the Peki Fire Station.
The first crash occurred near the Customs Barrier at Asikuma at about 7:18 am and involved a Mitsubishi L200 pickup truck with registration number GR 1226-22 travelling from Accra to Peki.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and rescued one occupant who had become trapped in the vehicle.
The pickup sustained partial damage, particularly to its engine compartment and rear section.

“Firefighters rescued one trapped victim from a Mitsubishi L200 pickup travelling from Accra to Peki after arriving promptly at the scene,” the GNFS stated.
While rescue operations from the first accident were ongoing, firefighters encountered a second crash at Asikuma Junction at about 10:04 am.
The second accident involved a MAN diesel cargo truck with registration number GT 4958 W transporting yams from Bimbilla to Accra.
“Rescue teams launched another operation and successfully freed three victims who had become trapped in the truck before handing them over for medical attention,” the statement said.
The Ghana National Fire Service urged motorists to exercise caution on the roads and strictly adhere to road safety regulations to help reduce road traffic accidents.
Authorities say investigations are underway to establish the exact circumstances that led to both accidents.
