The Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) has appealed to the public to help locate the family of a woman in her 60s who was found stranded at Agbogbloshie in Accra.

The woman, identified as Rose Okraku, is currently in the care of the Assembly’s Department of Social Welfare and Community Development after she reportedly failed to state her destination upon arriving in the capital.

“Preliminary findings indicate Madam Okraku had previously been diagnosed with dementia and was undergoing treatment,” Head of Public Affairs at AMA, Gilbert Nii Ankrah, said.

According to Ankrah, information gathered so far indicates that Okraku boarded a commercial vehicle from Kasoa Market to Accra on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.

Upon arriving in Accra, she reportedly became disoriented and could not indicate where she was headed, prompting concerned members of the public to hand her over to the authorities.

Officials believe her condition may have affected her ability to recall her destination or reconnect with relatives after arriving in the city.

The Department of Social Welfare and Community Development has since taken custody of her and is ensuring her safety while efforts continue to trace her family.

AMA is urging anyone with credible information to contact the department on 0241856401 or 0243211345.

The Assembly also advised families caring for elderly relatives, especially those with memory-related conditions, to take extra precautions when they travel to avoid similar incidents.
