The National Chairman of Friends of Bawumia ‘08 (FoB ‘08), Charles Owusu Juanah, has urged members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Yilo Krobo Constituency of the Eastern Region to put aside internal divisions and begin an aggressive grassroots campaign to secure victory for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia in the 2028 general elections.

Speaking during an engagement with party faithful and grassroots members at Nkurakan on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, Lawyer Juanah stressed the need for party supporters to forgive one another and work collectively toward rebuilding the party’s strength at the grassroots level.

The meeting, which formed part of ongoing efforts to mobilize support for the NPP ahead of the next general elections, was attended by constituency party members and coordinated by Electoral Area Coordinator, George Kuntu Blankson. Lawyer Juanah was accompanied by his Personal Assistant, Hon. Daniel Twumasi Kankam.

Addressing the gathering, the FoB ’08 Chairman warned that political traditions cannot thrive in an atmosphere of bitterness, hostility, and division, urging members to rise above personal grievances in the supreme interest of the party and the country.

According to him, the NPP remains the political tradition best positioned to implement social intervention policies and development programmes that benefit all Ghanaians regardless of ethnicity, religion, or social status.

“Let’s forgive ourselves and forget whatever may have gone wrong and let’s work hard as we want to win 2028 with Dr. Bawumia,” he stated.

In an emotional moment during his address, Lawyer Juanah revealed that his legal licence had once been suspended by an appointee under an NPP administration despite his financial and political support for the party. However, he said the experience had not weakened his commitment to the NPP.

He explained that his continued support for the party was rooted in his belief that the NPP remains committed to policies that improve the lives of ordinary Ghanaians.

Lawyer Juanah further described the NPP as an association of like-minded individuals united by shared democratic values and national development goals. He cautioned members against extending personal disagreements to the larger party structure.

“The NPP is an association which we all are members of. If someone in the association offends you, deal with that person on that level and do not extend that to the entire party,” he stressed.

He also emphasized the importance of humility, mutual respect, and tolerance within the party, warning that arrogance and internal antagonism could weaken party cohesion and affect electoral fortunes in 2028.

Touching on the party’s future presidential ambitions, Lawyer Juanah described Mahamudu Bawumia as a transformational and unifying leader whose appeal transcends religion, ethnicity, and political affiliation.

He praised Dr. Bawumia’s leadership qualities, competence, integrity, innovative mindset, and commitment to digital transformation, arguing that such qualities make him the right candidate to lead Ghana into a new era of economic growth and modernization.

The FoB ’08 Chairman therefore urged party members to intensify grassroots campaigning in support of Dr. Bawumia across markets, transport terminals, churches, schools, and other public spaces.

He further challenged members to actively engage undecided voters and sympathizers of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) through issue-based political discussions and respectful community engagement.

As part of the engagement, Lawyer Juanah also appealed to party leaders at the national, regional, constituency, and electoral area levels to ensure fairness and inclusiveness in the ongoing polling station executives elections.

According to him, all eligible party members who have expressed interest in serving at the polling station level should be allowed to contest without unnecessary disqualifications, except in cases involving clear constitutional or disciplinary breaches.

He cautioned that perceptions of selective treatment or exclusion could breed resentment and weaken the party’s grassroots structures at a critical period when unity and reconciliation are needed most.

Lawyer Juanah reminded party executives and election committees that the NPP has historically distinguished itself as a democratic tradition founded on fairness, tolerance, participation, and respect for differing opinions.

He therefore urged party officials to act as peace ambassadors capable of preserving harmony and strengthening the collective resolve of members ahead of the 2028 elections.

The engagement ended with party members expressing appreciation for what they described as a candid and inspiring interaction focused on reconciliation, grassroots mobilization, and strategic preparations toward the NPP’s quest to recapture power in 2028.
