Two Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) candidates have been killed in a fatal road crash in the Upper West Region.
The victims, identified as Taufii Ibrahim and Abdul Khalid, were pupils of Charia Roman Catholic Junior High School.
They were travelling by motorcycle from Charia to their examination centre in Wa on Sunday, May 3, 2026, according to myjoyonline.com

“The two were travelling to stay in Wa for the week-long examinations due to the unavailability of a centre in their community. Motorcycles (okada) are the primary means of transport in the area,” the report stated.
They were rushed to a nearby health facility, where Taufii was pronounced dead on arrival, while Abdul Khalid was pronounced dead on Monday, May 4, 2026.
More than 620,000 candidates are sitting for the week-long examination, which has commenced nationwide.
