Hahahaha. Which people throw trash into the Gutters at Chorkor and Shit in your open streets and places. You are the very people guilty of that. Chorkor people have been known since time immemorial as Dirty people who shit and throw trashes everywhere in their own neighborhood. Your place smells like a pigsty. Who do you expect to clean your area for you. Form a Clean Neighborhood Association for yourself and tidy up your area. I shall never accept any room in Chorkor for free accommodation. They are very dirty and smelly. Let people who disagree with me disprove what I am saying. Rawlings himself knew and sometimes used Soldiers to force and beat residents with dirty and weedy neighborhoods with choked Gutters. Help clean your neighborhood. Go and learn from the Kwahu people. They do things for themselves and don’t wait on the Government for anything..

Do they even pay taxes to their districts for the cleanup to be done? Let them learn from the Kwahu people who don’t wait on the Government for anything but do everything in their neighborhoods by themselves. Yes, they don’t throw trash around everywhere and in Gutters. They construct Public Toilets and don’t shit in the roads and Gutters. Tell the Chorkor people to learn civilization from the Kwahu people.

What happened to the Zoom Lion and the other Waste collection companies? We are in the era of recycling of waste and somebody should encourage or start recycling now. Let us establish solid waste recycling companies and the problem of poor sanitation and the dangerous air pollution would be a thing of the past. For me, poor sanitation is far better than the burning of waste in Accra. Toxic air kills faster!

Accra has become one dirty eyesore and nobody seems to care. Just busy building fancy buildings with no parking spaces choking up streets with cars and with the majority of Accra a total mess.

Providing safe tiolets in the area isnt going to fix the issue. I know friends who school in the area during the late 60s at radiatway preparatory school. Who can testify that if the government decides to build even more tioletsthan the number of houses in the whole of chorkor. It will not stop these locals who are used to the lazy attitude of open defecation from continuing their sick filthy habit. Kids openly poop in the confines of the family house courtyard and the adults watch the little exhibits of poop from morning till they sleep like watching the world cup, ending up turning those poops into indoor courtyard mountains. The issue is we havent got an effective, honest , and bold environmental protection officers who will enforce such areas from where 80% of the smoked fish in our local markets for human consumption come from.

During the 1979 AFRC and 1981 PNDC era, soldiers were sent to chorkor to get all the locals to clean their neighbourhood, dig out the drains , stop the open defecation in the area and along the beach line. It was the new dawn for the locals who praised themselves and set up a vigilante among themselves to report and supervise the cleanliness of the area. Anyone who defaulted was reported and when the soldiers were sent there those individuals were fished out and drilled by the soldiers thenade to clean the neighbourhood digging out clogged up gutters and also carry the maggots infested rubbish. Chorkor become the osu oxford street. Sadly some humans are swines. Never want to live in clean places

The locals 100 percent definitely need to raise their game and do much much better, but SO ALSO should all the residents of Accra and other cities. Indiscipline and bad behaviour are rampant all over Accra. People just pass on their waste problems to someone else.
I always remember a neighbour’s home help who used to clean their fish and dump all the waste in their residential gutter. It affected me and everyone else downstream. I was forced to go and give her some very good advice on neighbourliness.
Accra needs a SYSTEM that everyone needs to follow. A SYSTEM that is enforced.
