A fire outbreak has reportedly destroyed five girls’ dormitories at the Tolon Senior High School (SHS) in the Northern Region displacing 346 students.
The incident, reported by Channel One TV via a post on their X page, on Monday, February 2, 2026, occurred around 7:20 am affecting the top floor of the girls’ dormitory building.
“About 346 students of Tolon SHS are displaced after a Monday morning fire destroyed five girls’ dormitories. The blaze has been brought under control by the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS)” the report noted.

The school authorities following the incident are still assessing the cause of the fire and the full extent of the damage.
This marks the second fire at the Tolon SHS girls’ dormitory, following a similar blaze in 2022.
The incident adds to persistent fire outbreaks across Ghana.
According to GNFS data, the service recorded 5,585 fire incidents nationwide between January and November 2025, affecting both residential and non-residential properties, including markets.
