The United Nations Peace Ambassadors Foundation (UN-PAF) Ghana has successfully held its National Conference and Swearing-In Ceremony at the prestigious Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC) in Accra.

Held under the theme “Partnering Africa and Global Institutions: Promoting Diplomacy, Dialogue, and a Corruption-Free Path for Peace, Security, and Development in Africa,” the event marked a significant milestone in Ghana’s peacebuilding and diplomatic landscape.

The ceremony also featured the formal swearing-in of the UN-PAF Ghana Executive Council, ushering in a new leadership committed to diplomacy, integrity, and inclusive national development.

Call for Justice, Dialogue, and Integrity

Delivering the keynote address, Nana Sultan Adamu Mohammed, National Chairman of UN Peace Ambassadors Foundation–Ghana, emphasised that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict and must be grounded in justice, dialogue, accountable leadership, and respect for human dignity.

Drawing inspiration from the enduring legacy of Kofi Annan, he called for strengthened partnerships between Africa and global institutions, peaceful democratic processes, community-level conflict resolution, and zero tolerance for corruption.

According to him, sustainable development cannot thrive without integrity, dialogue, and inclusive governance.

Traditional Leadership, Politics, and Moral Responsibility

In his goodwill and special address, Nana Masaba Yussif Coulibaly Fanyinamah III, Grand Patron of UN-PAF, underscored the moral responsibility of traditional leaders and global peace advocates in fostering unity, tolerance, and harmony.

He stressed that peace must be firmly rooted in values, culture, and ethical leadership.

The Leader and Founder of the All Peoples Congress, Hassan Ayariga, highlighted the strong link between peace, responsible leadership, and national development, urging political actors to prioritise dialogue, tolerance, and national unity over division.

Women, Faith, and Inclusive Peacebuilding

Addressing the gathering, Hajia Adiza Imoro Baba Issah, National Head of Islamic Queen Mothers–UN-PAF, spoke on the critical role of women, faith, and moral leadership in peacebuilding.

She called for unity, compassion, and the active inclusion of women in peace processes.

A representative of the Ga Mantse (King of Accra), Naa Ameley Tessaa I, reaffirmed the importance of traditional authority in conflict prevention, stressing dialogue, respect for customs, and collaboration between traditional institutions and modern governance structures.

Peace, Health, and Security

Lady Osei Bonsu, Head of the Ahafo Regional Medical Team, highlighted the interconnection between peace, health, and human security, noting that peaceful societies are essential for effective healthcare delivery and community wellbeing.

Gloria Sackey, National Vice Chairperson of UN-PAF Ghana, reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to grassroots peace advocacy, youth engagement, and institutional growth, encouraging members to lead with integrity and service.

Police Support for Peacebuilding

Speaking on behalf of the Ghana Police Service, Chief Superintendent Vincent Adotey, Teshie District Police Commander, expressed gratitude to the organizers for the invitation and commended UN-PAF Ghana for convening a programme centered on peace.

He emphasised that peacebuilding aligns directly with the mandate of the Police Service, describing peace as the foundation of security and development.

He further reaffirmed the Police Service’s readiness to support UN-PAF Ghana’s initiatives, noting that the police are often referred to as “peacemakers” due to their role in conflict prevention, mediation, and community protection.

Broad National Participation

The ceremony brought together chiefs, queen mothers, religious leaders, honourable members, political leaders, security agencies, civil society actors, community leaders, media practitioners, and peace advocates, reflecting broad national support for the UN-PAF mission.
