Chief of AB Bokazo cuts sod to construct ICT center and library

Nana Amihere Blay II, the Chief of AB Bokazo in the Ellembelle district of the Western Region, has cut the sod for the construction of an Information Communication and Technology (ICT) centre and a library for the basic school in the area.

Speaking at the colorful event, Nana Amihere Blay II, stated that one of his priorities was to empowering school children in the community through ICT.

He expressed wary over the current state of the basic school in the town and therefore appealed to Ghana National Gas Company to renovate the school block as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility.

"As we speak the school building in this community is facing a lot of challenges, and I want to appeal to Ghana Gas company operating on our land to support us to renovate our school building", he said.

Nana Amihere Blay II further called on the Ghana National Gas Company and the MP for the area, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah to support them to construct the ICT centre to produce more computer literates in the community.

He urged his community members to commit themselves in communal works in the area.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana National Gas Company, Judith Adjobah Blay who was the special guest of honor, congratulated the Chief and his Queen Mother for the event.

She assured the community that she would appeal to the board members of the company to renovate the AB Bokazo basic school and support the community to build the ICT centre for the students.

She motivated girls in community to take maths, science and technology seriously and promised to empower whoever would excel well in maths, science and technology to become great engineers.

She further urged parents in the community to monitor and encourage their children to study well.

"AB Bokazo deserves better because here is where our office complex is located and if they are building ICT centre and library and they need the company's support then we have to help them so I will talk to my board to support AB Bokazo community to get ICT centre and library and also renovate their school building for them", she said.

She used the occasion to assure the Western region of the company's CSR projects in 2026.

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Ellembelle Constituency, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, commended the Chief and his people for such a laudable vision to get ICT centre and library for schoolchildren in the area.

He applauded the Chief for retaining the existing peace and unity in the community and called on them to embrace development first than body politics.

"I'm very happy that you have maintained the existing peace and unity in this community because without peace and unity, your community cannot develop, as for politics, we can't allow it to divide us and one thing about me is that after election we have to come together to develop our communities so Nana Amihere Blay II what I will tell you is that welcome any development coming from all political angles", he said.

Armah-Kofi Buah who is also the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, further promised to support the school with computers when the ICT centre is completed.

He also took the opportunity to pledge to liaise with the Ellembelle DCE to reshape the principal street of AB Bokazo in the coming days.

The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson commended the Chief and his Queen Mother to live in peace and unity to champion for the development of the area.

He called on other communities in the Western region to eschew chieftaincy disputes that would hinder development in the region.

He advised students in the community to take their academic works seriously in order to become great personalities in future.

A fundraiser was held in aid of the ICT centre and the library. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah and Judith Adjobah Blay, the CEO of Ghana National Gas Company donated GHC10,000 each to the community. The Western Regional Minister, Joseph Nelson also donated GHC5,000 to the community.
