The current Chairman of the NDC Island-City Branch in Kumasi, Solomon Jabari (Captain retired), has officially declared his intention to contest the Atwima Kwanwoma Constituency Chairmanship in the lead-up to the 2026 general elections.

Captain Jabari’s decision is primarily driven by a deep concern over what he describes as a pervasive lack of peace, unity, and clear direction within the constituency party.

Making his declaration on Sunday, December 28, at his residence in Ahenema Kokobeng, Island City, during the NDC Island-City end-of-year party, the retired military captain and business mogul emphasized that, "the lack of cohesion has negatively affected the progress and effectiveness of the party in Atwima Kwanwoma."

He stressed that the constituency is in urgent need of a leader capable of bridging the gaps, reconciling differences, and uniting all factions under a common purpose.

Reflecting on the challenges faced by the NDC, particularly in the 2024 general elections, Captain Jabari asserted that internal divisions among constituency executives significantly weakened the party's efforts and compromised its electoral potential.

His vision, he reiterated, is to cultivate an inclusive environment where every party member feels genuinely connected to both the party's governance and its achievements.



To this end, he plans to immediately engage all Branch Chairmen and Coordinators across the constituency to gain a deeper understanding of their challenges and the overall state of the NDC in the Atwima Kwanwoma constituency.



Meanwhile, the well-attended event brought together party faithful, supporters, and key regional figures, including the Deputy Ashanti Regional Secretary of the NDC, Baah Acheamfour, and the Deputy Youth Organizer and Ashanti Regional National Service Secretariat (NSS) Director, Emmanuel Reagan Fynn, among other executives and stakeholders. The celebration was marked by lively dancing, sumptuous meals, and a warm atmosphere of camaraderie.



As a gesture of appreciation, Chairman Jabari presented gifts to individuals from various branches who have tirelessly worked, significantly contributed, or made notable sacrifices for the party throughout their lives.

He also paid special tribute to women in the constituency, acknowledging their tireless contributions during election periods, which he described as even more demanding than those of their male counterparts.

He underscored the critical importance of recognizing and adequately rewarding the dedication and sacrifices of women within the party structure.

The declaration was warmly received by the constituency executives present, who expressed their full support for Captain Jabari and pledged to vote for him during the upcoming election.

In his concluding remarks, Captain Jabari appealed to party members and supporters to remain calm, disciplined, and law-abiding, urging them to respect the NDC's rules and regulations.

He reminded them that the campaign season has not yet officially begun and encouraged patience until nominations are formally opened.

His message which centered on unity, peace, and inclusiveness, resonated strongly with the attendees of which most of expressed widespread support for his bid.
