First of all let us commend the prison staff for refusing to accept an alleged ill individual.

Where are the Omanhene's legal team, surely if he is ill then they should have sought delay of the hearing until he is well enough to attend court

The judge also should have requested an independent certified medical practicioner assess the omanhene.

On that note is ironic that criminal politicians flee Ghana and tell courts or investigatory bodies they will turn up in their own good time or not at all.

On no one is abive the law this is never true. CA 2008 stipulates that when a traditional ruler receives a criminal conviction they would be destooled. There are pecedents e.g. Omanhene of upper Axim was destooled for this very reason about ten years ago

He who disobeys the powers of the court and the judge must be charge as well. The law enforcers who obstructed justice in the process of the end of criminal justice must be dealt with swiftly by the sitting judge. This is a lesson to the traditional leaders who thinks they are above the law. Those who issues decrees in their territories and sometimes forcing citizens to close their stores, wear certain cloths against their will when they are bereaved and close business down at their will, should take this as a warning.

One disturbing aspect of our Justice delivery system is ENFORCEMENT! You spend years and sometimes decades to travel from the lower courts to the Supreme Court to obtain judgment only to face another headache of enforcing the ruling of the court. For land litigations, the loosing party may have disregarded injunctions to continue building. You are then faced with a daunting task of obtaining permits from the local authorities to demolish or evict those refusing to respect the repossession order. You may even encounter corrupt persons such as the police or who are bent on frustrating the execution process. The judiciary must establish a special unit to deal with enforcement based on the orders of the court. This should be a unit comprised of armed forces who must make sure what the court ordered is followed to the letter. Some Ghanaians are very stubborn and without such a unit, Justice cannot be properly served!

Disrespecting a Paramount Chief to that extent is highly inappropriate and disrespectful. Traditional leadership existed before the constitution, so a certain level of respect should be accorded to them. There should be an investigation into such contempt leading to jail time. The judge needs to be looked into; she's power-drunk and should exercise caution.
