This is not to disrespect anyone but truth must be told to set the records straight. Factually, there's nothing like Okyehene in Ghanaian traditional authorities settings. Note that there are three Akyem traditional areas (Abuakwa: Kyebi, Kotoku:Oda and Bosome: Akyem Swedro) and this particular chief rules exclusively in the Ofori Panyinfie i.e. Abuakwa headquartered in Kyebi.

You are unlearned and cheap. Let me give you a little history of the name. Okyenhene is the corruption of Okyemhene, where Okyem is the leopard. From Adansi where they migrated, their forebearer Nana Apeanim Kwaframoah was called Okyemhene because he fought anyone who dares attack his own. After him, when Nana Kuntunkunuku took over, he was also known for his ways of cutting you in the way and fighting you hence the 'Obunkwahfoɔ' later corrupted to Abuakwah. In all these years the Okyenhene remains. For the purposes of Akan history, Asona abusua who are the rulers of Akyem Abuakwah have their totem as snake ' Asona woɔ' but the Okyenhene sits on the leopard skin telling you the name and hagemoney is preserved in history.

Relative to so called Akyem Bosome and Alien Kotoku. They are not Akyems. Akyem Kotoku is Denkyia whom Nana Ohemaa Dokuaa allow them to settle at Gyadam close to Osino after the marauding Asante forces destroyed their lands from Asante Bomfa to Dampong ( their headquaters). When they were not grateful Ohemaa Dokua ordered for them to be removed from dagyam but the Kwabeng forces refuse to fire a gun but allowed them to move through and their current land was given to them by Oseawuohene, Alien Wenchihene, a,divisional chief at Kyebi. On so called Akyem Bosome, their land was gifted to them by Angel Tarkwahene when they were also pursued by the Asante forces. Likewise, New Juabeng land was given to them by Akyem Kukurantumihene who is also a divisional chief at Kyebi. They were paying 1 pound every year to Kyebi till Nkrumah cancelled it after independence. Further, Akuapim is also ruled by Kyebi's niece. Okyenhene allowed his nephew Sarfaro to fight and defeat the Akwamus and sack them to their present day location at Akwamfufie when dwanfoɔ asked for his support to fight them Akwamus. By now you should know that apart from the Kwahu lands and parts of Krobo in the eastern region, the allodial owner is Kyebi.

Now, can an amantena or sorjourner who decides to take the name of the owner of the land says he Okyem more than the person whose name he rides on. He is Okyemhene later corrupted to Akyem and Okyenhene. He sits on the leopard skin though he is Asona. His title and name is preserved in history and unlearned people like you cannot change it.

There was Adamsi before Asante. Asante is the eastern part of the Adansi that was under Boa Bompensem of Denkyira whereas Nana Kwaframoah was in the western part. So Okyenhene and his people are from Adanse Akrofuom but not part of the later day Asante group that was formed. Kingdoms are marked with timeliness and cannot be tagged to people forever. If that is the case, then there wouldnt be any Akyem or Asante at all because they all emerged from some broken kindgoms. For instance, Bodwensago is the last born of Denkyira yet they are not part of Asante. From Tanoso to all the Atwima towns are Denkyira towns ruled by Boapemsem. They dont call themselves Denkyira today but they are because they are currently part of the later Asante kingdom. Asante and Akyem are from two different eras and one cannot be said to part of the other but one can say they are related afterall they hail from the same area, speak the same language and have common ancestry as Akans.
