You must now understand that the same import duty you're now seeking waiver for, is transferred to a business man or a woman in similar venture who cannot secure the same waiver.

However, the often bureaucratic processes discourages such initiatives. Initially, they will assume that once a waiver is provided, people will divert the goods and sell on the open market. This can indeed be true. In the past, such benevolent persons are required to seek prior approval before shipment and hand over to the ministry of health who in turn will ensure delivery to the ultimate beneficiaries. This has also not proven to be effective as they get diverted as well. But to hold on to such a consignment to a big hospital like KATH championed by Otumfuo is simply sickening. Sometimes, you have to balance with your head and not stomach.
