Work commences on electricity expansion project in Ofoase-Ayirebi

Residents in over 30 communities in the Ofoase-Ayirebi constituency can now heave a sigh of relief as work commences on an electricity expansion project in the community.

Aimed at connecting over thirty communities in the constituency to the national grid, the project which commenced in August 2017 is expected to bring development to the communities which hitherto unserved with electricity.

The three-month project expected to be completed by October and 2018 will provide major communities such as Sukuran, Apete, Paawudu, Bentenase, Chin, Adonkonsua and surrounding communities with electricity and free installation of meters.

The project is in addition to extension of electricity to 3000 households by the Member of Parliament for the area Kojo Oppong Nkrumah.

Mr Oppong Nkrumah explained that these projects are aimed at improving the lives of residents in his constituency. He added that the supply of electricity to the area would contribute immensely to the socio economic lives of residents.

“All we are seeking to do is to step up the quality of life here. Students in these areas can finally read and study at night . Parents can also do some business when day loses its light. This is definitely a positive boost to the lives of residents here” he remarked.

The MP vowed to do more to bring developmental projects to the people of Ofoase-Ayirebi to empower residents.

DCE Paul Asamoah has also commended contractors and urged them to ensure that quality standards as well as timelines are met.

Contractors working on the project assured the MP and DCE of meeting the timelines for the execution of the project and vowed to execute the project to the best of their abilities.
