The chiefs of Chamba communities, led by Chief Zakaria Tahir Kuta III, Chamba Chief of Ghana, have commended President Akufo-Addo for appointing Hajia Salma Mohammed Sani Adams Kuta as the Ayawaso East Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).

The chiefs made the commendation when they paid a courtesy call on the MCE to officially congratulate her on her appointment.

“We are very happy that for the first time in the history of Ghana one of our own has been appointed as the first Municipal Chief Executive of a newly created Assembly; Ayawaso East Municipal Assembly.”

In a release issued to the Ghana News Agency on Wednesday in Accra, Chief Kuta expressed the hope that the newly appointed MCE would deliver on her mandate by the grace of Allah.

"We came here today to officially congratulate our daughter on her appointment and to also show our appreciation to the President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, for raising the status of Ayawaso East and North where majority of Chamba people live,” he said.

"…We also thank our brother the Vice President, Alhaji Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and his wife, Hajia Samira Bawumia, for all they are doing for Zongo communities. We pray to Allah to support and protect them all."

The chief assured the MCE of their unflinching support in the execution of her duties and ensuring that all government policies and programmes were implemented.

He appealed to the people of the Municipality to support the Assembly’s development agenda.

Hajia Adams Kuta thanked the chiefs for their faith in her and said her vision was to work with them and the people in the area to create a modern local economy to bring jobs and ensure their financial independence.

She said her major concern was sanitation and education in the Municipality and that she would be happy if the children could compete favourably with other children across the country.

She appealed to the chiefs to encourage their people to support the Government because of its commitment to developing the Zongo communities.
