USADF boss interacts with outgrower farmers

Accra, Dec. 11. GNA - Mr Lloyd Pearson, President of the United Stat= es of Africa Development Foundation (USADF), has interacted with vegetable farmers in Dzowulu, a suburb of Accra to explore the best ways of assisti= ng them to boost production.

The vegetable farmers, are under a special programme developed by Ede= n Tree Ghana Limited, an agro-based company, which provides training and funding for the farmers through USADF to enhance production.

The interaction was aimed at providing the President of USADF, the opportunity to assess the level of work done by Eden Tree Ghana Limited a= nd other affiliated bodies- Mensah Duah and Co, consultants for the project. Mr Pearson, expressed satisfaction with the level of work done by the=

farmers saying, it will provide the needed platform for economic boost fo= r the farmers and the country as well. He said, the farmers had demonstrated their commitment to the success= of the project by the level of success he had witnessed.

Mr Abubakar Suleiman, Head of the Vegetable Farmers Association, said=

the presence of the President of USADF had served as a source of motivati= on and encouragement for them.

He said the Association was committed to the production of healthy an= d quality farm products for the nation and would ensure that members applie= d the best farm practices to achieve their targets.

Mr Suleman, expressed appreciation to the USADF for providing them wi= th the necessary financial assistance to improve upon their production. Mrs Catherine Krobo-Edusei Benson, Chief Executive of Eden Tree Ghana=

Limited, said, the financiers of the project were satisfied with the outc= ome of their investments.

She said, plans were in place to expand the project to the outskirts of Accra.

Eden Tree Limited, a medium scale company, with specialisation in the=

processing, packaging and supply of fresh vegetables, recently launched a=

GH¢50,000 revolving loan fund for out-grower farmers in partnership wi= th USADF. It was aimed at making available to the farmers quick access to loans in order to boost productivity, with Eden Tree Limited serving as ready mar= ket for them.
