TMA inaugurates projects

Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, Tema Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), says government is committed to the provision of accessible social amenities for the citizenry.

He said in dealing with the infrastructural deficit in the country, government would ensure that priority is given to the health and education sectors.

The MCE was speaking over the weekend at the inauguration market stores and two CHIPS compounds at Manhian, Bankuman and Adjetey Ansah communities in the Municipality.

The CHIPS Compounds, with treatment and residential rooms, and market stores, all valued at GH¢ 840,000 were paid for with funds from Internally Generated Fund and the Urban Development Grant.

Addressing the chiefs and people, Mr Odamtten said the refurbishment and reconstruction of the market stores would boost economic activities among market women in the Manhian community.

The vision of government, he said, permeates all sectors of the economy and the assembly would improve on the living standards of the populace.

He stated that the market would witness major facelift in the second phase of the project to give market women a decent place to conduct business.

Inaugurating the CHIPS compounds, the MCE underscored the need for the provision of the facilities and said: “An accessible health care delivery system is needed in marginalised communities to help enhance health care.”

According to him, no woman should die while giving life and that major infrastructural projects are being developed to reduce maternal mortality and improving maternal health coverage in the municipality and the country as a whole.

He appealed to corporate entities in the Tema enclave to furnish the facilities with medical supplies and equipment to complement what the assembly has provided.

Dr John Yabani, Metro Director of Health Services, expressed appreciation to the assembly and gave the assurance that the facility would be put to good use and maintained.

Present at the gathering were the Tema Mantse, Nii Adjei Kraku II, the Presiding Member of the Assembly, Mr Richard Fiadomo, among other dignities.
