SSNIT holds thanksgiving service in Accra

The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) on Sunday held a thanksgiving service in Accra to appreciate God’s guidance and support in the performance of its works over the past 50 years.

The service, which was held on the theme: “50 Years of Social Security in Ghana”, was attended by the Board Chairman, Professor Joshua Alabi, other board members, staff members and their families.

Scripture readings and prayers were interspersed with hymns and songs of praise for the goodness of God to SSNIT over the years and years ahead.

In a sermon, Reverend Steve Asante, Former President, Ghana Baptist Convention, on the topic: “Dare to help make a better History” urged staff of SSNIT to be guided by the scriptures to help them make a better history in the coming years.

He noted that integrity, self-discipline, core values and self-identity as the virtues that members of SSNIT ought to work with in the years ahead.

“If you will make better history tomorrow as a corporate body as well as break the storms, watch these qualities,” he said.

Rev Asante congratulated SSNIT for completing 50 years of faithful service to the country.

He led the congregation to pray for the board members as well as the management of SSNIT.

Prof Alabi called on the personnel to be dedicated and expressed the hope that the years ahead would be a good year for the organisation.

He challenged SSNIT to be in the lead for the public to know their worth.

“Let us position ourselves and let the public know our values before our stories are presented to them,” he advised.

Prof Alabi noted that to control the recent crimes in the country, the board of SSNIT had built 40 office complexes for security agencies in the country adding: “We are also building boxing complex that will serve a training centre for the boxers and people of Bukom,” he said.

The Board Chairman pledged the board’s commitment and efforts of providing workers with the necessary resources for their works.

SSNIT was established in November 1972 by the National Redemption Council 127 as an autonomous body to administer the social security scheme.
