A total of 98 tertiary-level students in the Lambussie District have received scholarships from the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area to support their education.
The Beyuo Educational Scholarship Trust (BEST), launched in 2024, was aimed at supporting brilliant but needy students from the constituency pursuing tertiary education across various tertiary institutions in the country.
The initiative forms part of Professor Titus Beyuo, the MP’s commitment to investing in human capital and empowering the youth of Lambussie through education.
The support is also to ensure that financial challenges do not prevent talented students from achieving their academic goals.
Presenting the cheques to beneficiaries in a short ceremony, Professor Beyuo, founder of the scheme, said an amount of GH¢201, 050.00 was allocated to support tertiary level students in the area.
He said the initiative was intended to ensure that no student in the constituency was denied tertiary education due to financial constraints.
He emphasised that education remains a key priority for his office, describing it as the foundation for national development.
Professor Beyuo highlighted his efforts to promote quality education through the introduction of a teachers’ award scheme in the constituency
He said the initiative, which recognised outstanding teachers in 2025, would be sustained to motivate educators for improved quality education.
The MP described investment in human capital as critical to long-term socio-economic development of the district, and that education remained one of the most sustainable pathways to community transformation and empowerment.
He said: “My topmost priority is investing on human development index, ensuring that we develop the human resource to achieve desirable development in the constituency.”
He explained that the scholarship was not limited to supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party, but was open to all deserving students, regardless of political affiliation.
He added that the scholarship was not given to students based on academic performance but to everyone who applied, saying, “I will begin to award the best tertiary students. So, I encourage all of you to study hard to achieve your academic goals”.
He, therefore, advised the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and strive for excellence, adding that education remained one of the most effective pathways to personal and national development.
Naawulle Ireneous Basingbie, the District Chief Executive (DCE), commended the MP for the initiative and advised the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make good use of the opportunities offered and to make the district proud of them.
Baminekang Bede, the Lambussie District Director of Education, addressing the beneficiaries, urged them to view the scholarship as a responsibility to excel academically and give back to society
He noted that education remained a major barrier for many talented young Ghanaians, stressing that the scholarship scheme would help to bridge the gap between potential.
Boo Denis, a beneficiary, pursuing a master’s degree in development communication at the University of Business and Integrated Development Studies (UBIDS) in Wa, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to the MP.
Denis noted that the support would ease the financial burden on their guardians and would enable them to focus on their studies.
