Korle Bu staff threaten to lock up ‘sacked’ CEO if…

Staff of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital have threatened to lock up Former Chief Executive Officer Reverend Albert Okpoti Botchway if he does not comply with a Ministry of Health directive to vacate his post. According to Charles Ofei-Palm, the President of the Hospital’s Senior Staff Association (KOSSA), Rev. Botchway is yet to leave office with the reason that he is yet to be officially served with a letter from the Ministry to that effect. A letter dated July 7, 2014 by then Minister of Health, Sherry Ayittey, revoked the appointment of Rev. Botchway and appointed Dr Samuel Asiamah to act in his stead. Rev. Botchway was directed to hand over duties to Dr Asiamah.

People’s power

But staff complain Rev. Botchway still reports to his office.

“Two weeks is enough time for someone to have handed over,” noted Mr Ofei-Palm, who hinted that staff have issued a two-week ultimatum to the Former Chief Administrator of the Teaching Hospital.

He said they will invoke the people’s power or Civil Disobedience Act on Rev. Botchway if he still reports to the office.

“That office that belongs to CEO will be locked. That office will no more be used by Rev. Albert Okpoti Botchway.”
