GETFUND undertakes projects at Archbishop Porter Girls School

Fijai(W/R), May 15, GNA - The Management of Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFUND) has allocated about 8.6 billion cedis for development projects at Archbishop Porter Girls Secondary School at Fijai in the Western Region.

They are the construction of a fence wall estimated at 2.4 billion cedis and a three storey dormitory block estimated at 6.2 billion cedis. Mr Kwesi Blay, Deputy Western Regional Minister who inspected the projects, presented keys on a vehicle valued at 2.4 billion cedis provided by GETFUND to Mrs Theresa Prah, Headmistress of the school at Fijai.

Mr Blay expressed concern about the delay in the completion of the projects and warned the contractors to speed up work. He asked the school authorities to take good care of the vehicle that would improve academic and administrative work as well as the relationship between the school and other educational institutions in the country.

Mrs Prah, expressed appreciation to the management of GETFUND for the projects that would ensure an efficient and effective administration in the school.

She said the fence wall would prevent encroachment by estate developers and livestock from entering the school. Mrs Prah said the school, which emerged the best in Western Region and second in the Ghana @ 50 National Schools Debate Competition was facing many challenges.

She said a portion of the roof of the existing kitchen built in 1965 had caved in and should be rehabilitated.
