Hohoe (V/R), July 7, GNA - A capacity building workshop for the core staff of Jasikan, Kadjebi and Hohoe district assemblies has ended Hohoe in the Volt Region.
The workshop was towards the effective implementation of the 6th European Union (EU) Micro Projects Programme in the region. Mr Kwame Ampabeng-Kyereme, Managing Director of PAB Consult, a Tema-based firm tasked to package an information and educational campaign to kick start the programme said, all bottlenecks, which otherwise hindered the total success of the last phase was being addressed.
He resounded that EU programmes were not to be given on contracts but community initiated, planned and executed with the Government and EU taking 75 per cent and community providing the 25 per cent in a form of labour, local materials and warehousing services. Mr Ampabeng-Kyereme said it was expected that the micro-projects would have positive impact on the socio-economic development of beneficiary communities and reduce poverty. Mr John Peter Amewu, Hohoe District Chief Executive said the district would benefit from a total of 1.2 billion cedis worth of infrastructure projects. He was grateful for the sustained collaboration between the Government of Ghana and EU towards enhancing development at the grassroots level to reduce poverty. July 7, 06
