Amasaman (GA/R), July 7, GNA - Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) on Thursday, undertook a working tour to assess damage caused to several acres of farms destroyed at Ashalaja by recent flood in the Amasaman area.
The rains caused River Densu to over flow its banks and farms within its catchment's area were submerged under the flood. Mr Wilson Ayertey, acting District Co-ordinator of NADMO advised residents of Ashalaja not to farm along the riverbanks, otherwise their labour and investments would go waste.
He also asked them not to build on waterways, because their building would cause flooding and eventually collapse. He appealed to them to plant trees on school compounds and public places to save their buildings against effects of rainstorm, saying that, trees add beauty to the environment.
