'Angry' Kantamanto traders want Railway authorities arrested

Traders at the ravaged Kantamanto market are demanding the arrest and prosecution of authorities of the Ghana Railway Authority for allocating lands meant for a railway station for trading.

They have accused the railway authorities of failing the state by wrongfully leasing lands to traders.

This follows the decision by the Transport Ministry to take over the Kantamanto area and transform the place into a modern railway station.

Although the leaders of the traders are not excited about their eviction, they say they are appalled by the actions of the railway authority.

Meanwhile, the media liaison officer at the Transport Ministry, Kudoto Egypt in an interview with XYZ News, said his outfit sympathizes with the traders who have lost their properties in the fire.

He insisted that the ministry will ensure that the area is used for its intended purpose.
