Keegan Wang and Yi Wang win the maiden edition of the International Pairs Golf World Championship Ghana finals.

Keegan Wang and Yi Wang fought off a strong field of Golfers through the southern and northern zone qualifiers to the Play-Off event held at the Centre of the World Golf Club Tema to emerge victorious.

The pair will now have the opportunity to represent Ghana at the World Finals of the International Pairs Golf tournament which takes place later this year from November 6th to 10th in Obidos, Portugal.

The event saw over 75 pairs of golfers playing through the qualifiers, with the top five from both the southern zone and the northern zone each qualifying to play in the final Play-Off, the southern zone qualifier was played at Celebrity Golf Club in Sakumono on the 1st of July 2023 whiles the northern qualifier was held at the Royal Golf Course Kumasi on the 8th of July.

Legend Sports Management Ghana’s licensee of the International Pairs Golf tournament is quite hopeful that after the three successful events which also included a warm-up game and Cocktail event hosted by the management of Montgomery Golf and Private Residences that the tournament will now become a main feature in the golfing calendar of Ghana.

Mr. Abdul-Aziz Amankwa, MD of Legend Sports Management (LSM) noted that apart from the International Pairs Golf Tournament, his outfit is focused on developing Golf in the country and as such will be devoting time and resources to growing junior golf through its partnership with the Ghana Golf Association and schools, he also announced that as part of building a strong ladies golf division their next event will be an all ladies match play tournament.

He also thanked sponsors of the tournament and reiterated the need for more investment in the sport to enable Ghanaian golfers to compete with their counterparts in other countries and to raise the profile of golf in Ghana, he was hopeful that with these measures Ghana could soon present a golf team at the Olympics.

International Pairs Golf Ghana 2023 qualifier is supported by PWC, Landers Farms, CAGL, Montgomery Golf and Private Residences, Tunani, Reddington Chalets Whuti, Kirloskar Generators, Sweet Gardens Kumasi, Ecoband, Munchee Biscuits, Geisha, Lifebuoy, and Pepsodent.
