Bolt super-app has launched ride-hailing in Tarkwa, Obuasi and Techiman. The company first entered the Ghanaian market in December 2017, and has since attracted thousands of drivers and customers across the country. Bolt is now present in 11 cities across Ghana.

David Nikoi, Country manager at Bolt said: “Our goal is to offer our drivers higher revenues per trip while ensuring high demand through competitive pricing. Accordingly, drivers in the new cities we have launched are not expected to pay commission for the first 6-months. We have been committed to profitability and fairness towards our drivers from the very beginning, because we firmly believe that happy drivers lead to happy passengers”.

The company expects drivers to be able to make up to GHS4000 per month. Bolt will also be running per trip bonuses to incentivise drivers and improve the overall experience of customers. By opting to provide mobility services in-app, drivers spend less time waiting for customers and more time actually making money on the road.

Bolt has put several features in place to make sure riders and drivers are safe. The app’s safety toolkit includes the Share ETA feature which allows passengers to share real time details of their trip with trusted third parties, an in-app Emergency Assist button, automated Driving Shift limit to ensure drivers rest after every 13 consecutive hours online, and on-trip insurance protection that covers unexpected injuries, medical expenses, and hospital stays.

For rare occasions when these safety features fail to protect drivers and customers, Bolt has put in place a high priority safety team that handles safety incidents quickly and efficiently.

Bolt encourages passengers and drivers to rate each-other in-app. This allows the company to have better control over quality but also block riders and drivers that pose a risk or do not adhere to the terms and conditions of the platform.
