In trying to justify why professors of Mechanical Engineering at the KNUST could not repair their vehicles when they break down, academicians of this university have come out to claim that these KNUST professors could not do so because they are not mechanics - even though these same people teach automobile engineering. This is unpardonable and these professors could be forgiven if they were physicists - remember most of the theories and formulae in mechanical engineering are produced by physicists. This is shocking because I don't know the kind of engineering training these KNUST professors are offering our youth and I can now see why products of our universities become useless when they don't get others to employ them. It will be very shocking to see a professor of mining engineering who cannot do blasting or use the theodolite to do surveying and so professors of KNUST have no excuse. It appears that education in Ghana is not meant to empower the youth for good deeds but just a means to seek white-colour jobs. Elsewhere it is not so. I once worked with a Ghanaian agriculturist, trained in Romania, as teachers in a secondary school. This man was teaching General Agric, Horticulture and Animal Husbandary whiles I handled Maths, Gen Science and Farm Mechanization. This man was so good at his area that I asked him why he is different from his counterparts trained in Ghana. It was after my inquiry the man told me that in Romania, to be an agriculturist, you need to be trained in both the theoretical and practical aspects of the programme. The practical aspects include plowing, shooting, swimming, how to set traps for different rodents that destroy crops, how to dismantle the engine of a tractor and fix it , basic animal surgery, how to construct silos and other storage facilities, etc. When he was posted to teach at the secondary school, he really inspired his student with his practical know-how. What even baffled me in that school was that the school was having survey instruments like the chain, theodolite, ranging poles, prismatic compasses, etc, yet the geography tutor, who was a graduate teacher from the University of Ghana could not use them - even though the geography syllabus at the SSCE level demanded that students should learn how to use them. I had to teach them the use of those instrument although I am not a university graduate. So you see how our intellectuals are misleading the youth.

Yes, but while others including Akufo-Addo's father, Paa Grant and others went to bed with the British to postpone independence, it was Nkrumah who said "Independence Now", and it was he who led the agitation for independence. The British had no choice but to release him from prison so that he could lead the cause for Ghana's independence.
Let's put historical facts in the right perspective. It is not always the one who starts the race that finishes it, and in this case, Nkrumah was the one who held the torch for Ghana's independence. That is an irrefutable fact that cannot be defaced. These NPP rascals at the time were busy throwing bombs to thwart Ghana's independence, while Nkrumah was busy negotiating with the British for our political emancipation.

Every Nation Under heaven has only one founder,in terms of the people, the earth and seas and rivers and vegetation and the numberless other resources in there.Even the delivery from colonial rule to be independent was by God, who executed the plan through the late Dr. Kwame Nkrumah as the CHOSEN leader even from prison by the people.Mr Oquaey must not loose focus and abuse his current political seat (position} in current administration by his attempt to distort facts and dare to change history, a futile venture dared at by his boss from the presidency. Late Adu Buahen became infamous for he many lies he had fabricated and had published in his erstwhile history book long before his death in opposition politics years ago.Oquaye will go down further than Adu Boahen for his current attempt at the needless game of fools which is to debate on lying events of the past. Those heads on the Ghana cedis termed 'The Big Six' are falsely so-called except one, that of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
Only Kwame Nkrumah, without the other five, had left somethings of Independence importance to Ghana till this day.The other names that we now see on the National currency have been forcibly placed there by disappointed and disgruntled politicians mainly of the so-called patriotic party device.
The U.G.C.C .founders saw that they themselves did NOT HAVE and could not have had, what it takes to be founder , and of course the leadership qualities required to lead people of the defunct gold coast to independence and have it renamed as Ghana. Those other names were placed there by the children of the founders of the defunct and infamous U.G.C.C who are desperate for a glory their dead and rotten fathers could neither share nor wanted because of the predator stance they had wildly dreamt of assuming over the good people of the Gold Coast, against which reason Dr. Kwame Nkrumah Had to deflect from them to form the liberator Political party in the name of Convention People's Party, C.P.P.the very political caucus that bravely, with the support of the selfless and good people at the time, fought for and actually obtained independence from British colonial rule as we all know of today.Oquaye and his accomplices should do the work they were appointed for the interest of the country Ghana and not for the infamous and forever damned and defunct interest of United Gold Coast Convention, that they want to force down the mind of Ghanaians.UGCC DID NOT AND COULD NEVER HAD AND even now CAN NEVER, IF GIVEN ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY TO RETURN INTO THIS WOEFUL LIFE AT ALL share the single most important glory that Nkrumah was and has been accorded even long before his death. Tell Oquaye that he can continue to be a dare devil in his fruitless effort to have some damned debate over some damned political figures' post-humous fame.We know that Oquaye is there because of money and can doe any damned thing for money so his call for the damned debate is no wonder; but he should be careful where he treads.

Why debate Nkrumah's role in the founding of Ghana, when they did not run on that platform? Are they out to now tell us who Nkrumah was or wasn't? Give credit where credit is due. What did the other people do? It was Nkrumah who had the foresight to build the Tema motorway, the Tema and Takoradi harbors, the Tema Oil Refinery, VALCO (which Gbedemah spearheaded but out of greed by making tons of money in that project when he brought the Americans), Atomic Energy Commission, cottage industries, and a host of other development projects that we are still enjoying till today. What has been the contribution of Akufo-Addo's father? The whole narrative is to give prominence to Akufo-Addo's father which historians and those who were old to know, will tell you was nil. He was an accidental president when both the president and the vice president were out of the country and as the speaker of parliament, stood in as the president for only three days. NPP must stop all these noise making about Nkrumah and focus on why they were elected - to stabilize the cedi, reduce fuel prices so that food and transport prices will also go down, and to create an enabling environment where jobs will be available for Ghanaians to do to have residual incomes.

Ghana had a Prime Minister who was in charge of the executive at that time. We did not have an executive President. Akufo Addo was elected a ceremonial President by parliament. He was not a President for three days. Obviously you were not born at the time. And by the way, Mike Oquaye is the Speaker of Parliament and not a member of the executive. He is not responsible for the depreciation of the cedi or putting food on peoples table.

Was the struggle started by Kwame Nkrumah? No let us face facts as told by people who are still alive and have played a role. Since 1957 the Nkrumaist had a programme to remove the real movers of Ghana's independence from the history books and unfortunately, Rawlings, another opportunist intensified it and with the support of Professor Kofi Awonoor made sure our history portrayed what those of you born in 80s read in the schools.
It is time to set the records straight and this time it is not : One party state where Kwame Nkrumah controlled the freedom of speech and it is not dictatorship where Rawlings pointed guns to our heads.
We shall hear it from all the patriotic sons and daughters who witnessed it at first hand.

A lie even when deodorized still remains
a lie.
A journalist said yesterday of not GTV that Dr. J.B.Danquah wrote to Kwame Nkrumah that his independence in the nearest possible time was for Ghana to get independence in 1954.
However United Party members lead by Prof. Kofi Abrefa Busia went to Britain and told the Queen of England that Ghana should not be granted independence in 1957 because the British experiment with us was not over.
This deodorized lie will also make it look like the U.P. was early and the CPP was late for independence the reason why U.P. members are absent when other Ghanaians were celebrating independence from the midnight of 5/3/1957 till the morning of 6/3/1957.
The journalist also said that the Preventing Detention Act was not democratic law though it was passed by parliament.
Let me remind them that the U.S. and her allies don't detain their opponents they murder them and decapitate their body. Patrice Lumumba, Mutarla Mohamed, Osaman Bin Laden and the Black Panthers are examples for all to see.
It is on record that when Kwame Nkrumah became head of government business he was using his private home near the at Kokomlemle near the Nima until J.B.Danquah and other elements in the U.P. begun to throw bombs at him.
It is on record that the NLC instituted the Protective Detention Act under which members of the CPP and ministers remained in prisons from 1966 until 1972 when Col. Ignatius Acheampong staged a coup against PP and Busia.

I don't know whether the most these called literates in Ghana understand language or what, or the kind of politics we are doing has bought our knowledge. I don't think prof and npp should insulted by that guy. Because prof was talking as an individual and that was the way he sees it. Ghanaians find it difficult to accept the truth, but truth is , how can he nkrumah founded Ghana alone, if u read what prof said ,he said nothing wrong about him,but he said instead of single him out as founder ,why can't add those who help and make it founders. I it's about time political parties in Ghana stop this kind of insult and instead criticised constructively to make their parties attractive, if u speak like this,I don't think this will make ur party attractive, this kind of insult is one the reasons ndc lost 2016 election. What prof said ,does not merit this kind of insult at all. It's shameful to read such insult.

Sane Ghanaians and the rest of the world know that Nkrumah was the founde of the Republic of Ghana. Case closed! And no amount of twisting of our history by the Danquaists within the NPP would change this historical fact.
My advice for the speaker is to work hard to help find the solution to our many challenges;
Bills to strengthen Ghana's GDP, Energy policies to end dumsor, tax policies, infrastructures to make the 1 District 1 Factory promise a reality, not to mention education measures that would improve what we have now. Are you thinking of bills to protect us from terrorists & internal vigilant groups that are rearing their ugly heads all over Ghana?
