The then government asked illegal foreigners to either register in Ghana or leave the Country.
The same orders happened in Nigeria in 1983,when illegal Ghanaian immigrants were asked to leave Nigeria,will the former MP call that xenophobia?
He just want to accused the Dankwa/Busia tradition of causing xenophobia in Ghana.
But if we shall face the facts,I will say more Ghanaians were killed during Mr Rawlings so called revolution.
What is happening in South Africa has nothing to do with the laws of that Country.Criminals are attacking well to do foreigners,and you are here comparing it to the Aliens Compiles Order because

I think you may be right that under the Aliens Compliance Act of Busias government, no such violent attacks such as the present South African attacks occurred. However, if you were born after 1971,a you would certainly be ignorant of the numerous foreigners and innocent foreign looking Ghanaians who suffocated to death in the police Black Marias of that time after being stopped on the streets and forcibly herded into the coffin like and overloaded dreaded Black Marias of those days. For the ones too young to imagine what I am describing, the big blue vehicles that convey money from the central bank to bank branches are very modern versions of those vehicles. Of course, the bank ones have no windows but the Black Marias did, high up on the sides and when overloaded, were veritable coffins. Those poor victims were then buried in mass graves in locations still in the memories of those witnesses of that time. So, atrocities did happen under Busia too just like under Rawlings!

These are the areas where our brothers can afford to stay when they arrive.that is where the violence always starts. The apartheid system has created a huge problem which may take years to solve and no government can easily solve it. I will not go into other issues but you must be aware that it is the only African country that is accommodating millions of foreigners with a lot of them being undocumented. Nigerians alone is said to about 800000.This group cannot open any bank account even if they want to. This affects their way of living. Jealousy occurs in all humanbeings. Seeing these Kwerekwere everywhere create some jealousy. Unfortunately RSA is a violent country where people use murder in solving problems no matter how trivail the problem may be. On the ninth of January a friend called Kwasi Hudson of blessed memory from Tema was short dead for no provocation at Soweto where he worked. Have you seen councellors being attacked by the masses for not fulfilling their campaign promises they made to the people? The government has been preaching against these attacks on foreigners. Lets hope for the best.

Liar, Liar, Liar!!! I went to South Africa on a business tour in 1996 and found out why most of the men are without work. The reason is they're not educated and hence unemployable. The women stayed home and benefitted from education. When the men returned from the bush they had no education and were not employable. They terrorized, robbed and killed their own people. They murdered their wives some of whom were nurses to claim insurance.
The Busia Aliens Compliance Order was meant for tax purposes. The foreigners did business in Ghana and paid no tax. In which developed country can they do that? The opposition parties misinformed the foreigners especially the Nigerians and they gave a misinterpretation to the new tax law making Busia look anti-immigrant. Know your facts before you open your mouth.
